Good News Story - James Ducker

James has demonstrated outstanding personal growth, leadership, and employability skills during his time on the Jobs Growth Wales+ programme. Since joining he has overcome many obstacles, and he has consistently exceeded expectations and shown a maturity and capability far beyond his starting point. Most notably, James played a pivotal leadership role during our recent Volunteer project at Holywell FC as part of their Tier 1 improvements for next season. Learners were tasked with cleaning, preparing, and painting the main stand. James naturally stepped into a supervisory and coaching position, guiding his peers with confidence, clarity, and genuine purpose. He demonstrated and taught others the correct techniques for carrying and mixing paint, as well as how to use rollers and brushes to achieve a professional finish. His instructions were clear, patient, and practical, enabling his peers to work safely and effectively. James coordinated the group’s workflow, ensured everyone understood their responsibilities, and supported others at every opportunity. What stood out most was James’s ability to lead by example. He worked hard, encouraged his peers, and maintained a positive, team‑focused attitude throughout the project. His understanding and application of Health & Safety and COSHH principles were excellent, and he actively promoted safe working practices within the group. James has shown that he is not only developing his own skills but is also capable of lifting others with him. His progress, attitude, and emerging leadership qualities make him an exceptional candidate for Learner of the Month and gives a true reflection of the achievements that can made at Jobs Growth Wales +.
