Hours: 30 hrs per week

Salary: £8.60p.h
Food Technician Apprentice – Key Stage 3
Connah’s Quay High School is an 11-16 English Medium school, proud of its setting in Wales serving the communities of Deeside and surrounding areas. We aim to provide a caring community, which encourages every child to achieve their full potential and develop their social confidence and wellbeing.
Duties include:
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare ingredients, equipment, and classrooms for practical food lessons
- Support teachers and students during lessons to ensure a safe and productive learning environment
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety
- Assist with stock control, ordering, and storage of food supplies
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and workspaces after lessons
- Support displays and resources within the department

As part of this apprenticeship, the successful candidate will undertake a structured training programme that includes:
- On-the-job training – gaining practical experience within a school setting.
- Off-the-job training – attending sessions covering safeguarding, behaviour management, child development, and learning strategies.
- Regular assessments and feedback to track progress and improve skills.
- Additional learning support, particularly in literacy, numeracy, and communication.
