Food Technician Apprentice – Key Stage 3

Connah’s Quay High School is an 11-16 English Medium school, proud of its setting in Wales serving the communities of Deeside and surrounding areas. We aim to provide a caring community, which encourages every child to achieve their full potential and develop their social confidence and wellbeing.

Duties include:

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients, equipment, and classrooms for practical food lessons
  • Support teachers and students during lessons to ensure a safe and productive learning environment
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety
  • Assist with stock control, ordering, and storage of food supplies
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and workspaces after lessons
  • Support displays and resources within the department

As part of this apprenticeship, the successful candidate will undertake a structured training programme that includes:

  • On-the-job training – gaining practical experience within a school setting.
  • Off-the-job training – attending sessions covering safeguarding, behaviour management, child development, and learning strategies.
  • Regular assessments and feedback to track progress and improve skills.
  • Additional learning support, particularly in literacy, numeracy, and communication.
