Job Description
Connah’s Quay High School is an 11-16 English Medium school, proud of its setting in Wales serving the communities of Deeside and surrounding areas. We aim to provide a caring community, which encourages every child to achieve their full potential and develop their social confidence and wellbeing.
Duties include:
As a workshop technician / teaching assistant you would support teachers and help young people gain confidence and build up their skills in a D+T environment.
Job roles will include:
- Working within a workshop full-time as a Technician / Teaching Assistant.
- Promote sustainable use of natural resources.
- Ensure safe working practices are adhered to by learners.
- Support learners with practical skills in D+T workshop.
- Support learners through the skills needed and methods used to create a variety of products, from design to producing it.
- Support learners to gather evidence
- Be involved in mentoring learners and building their confidence and capabilities.
- Helping learners who need extra support to complete tasks.
- Understand the safeguarding and behaviour policy and you’re role within these policies.
- Ensure learners follow H+S guidelines and Normal Operating procedures in the workshop.
- Working with young people aged 11 – 16.
- Supporting a teacher in various roles within the workshop.
- Ability to conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times whilst working for the school.

- Any previous experience working in design and technology.
- Any previous experience supporting other workers / young people.

As part of this apprenticeship, the successful candidate will undertake a structured training programme that includes:
- On-the-job training – gaining practical experience within a school setting.
- Off-the-job training – attending sessions covering safeguarding, behaviour management, child development, and learning strategies.
- Regular assessments and feedback to track progress and improve skills.
- Additional learning support, particularly in literacy, numeracy, and communication.
