Job Description
Connah’s Quay High School is an 11-16 English Medium school, proud of its setting in Wales serving the communities of Deeside and surrounding areas. We aim to provide a caring community, which encourages every child to achieve their full potential and develop their social confidence and wellbeing.
Duties include:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated PE Apprentice who specialises in Rugby to become part of the team in our friendly, successful high school. This role is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about sports beyond the standard curriculum and acting as a great sporting role-model for our pupils at the school.
As part of the job, you will organise and run safe and enjoyable activities at lunchtimes, support teachers delivering PE and run after school sport activities throughout the week.
The staff team will be there to support you throughout the apprenticeship and will be offering additional training courses throughout your time at Connah’s Quay High School.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and delivering PE lessons, especially Rugby across the curriculum.
- Engage and motivate pupils of all abilities to participate in physical activity.
- Help facilitate lunchtime and after-school sports clubs.
We want someone who:
- Will be a great sporting role-model for our children.
- Can organise and run safe and enjoyable activities at playtimes and lunchtimes.
- Will be able to support our teachers while they deliver PE lessons, using your skills to help the pupils to improve.
Can organise and run sport and fitness sessions after school for children of all ages.
Desirable Criteria:
- Previous experience working with young people in a coaching or educational setting
- Level 2 Coaching Certificate / Equivalent
- Strong sporting background
- Strong sporting background
- Good organisational skills
- Strong communication skills
As part of this apprenticeship, the successful candidate will undertake a structured training programme that includes:
- On-the-job training – gaining practical experience within a school setting.
- Off-the-job training – attending sessions covering safeguarding, behaviour management, child development, and learning strategies.
- Regular assessments and feedback to track progress and improve skills.
- Additional learning support, particularly in literacy, numeracy, and communication.
